David Washco,Chair

David is a graduate of Appalachian State University and is employed by Carolina West Wireless as a Director of Sales. He is married to Amy and they have 2 daughters, Savannah and Riley. David enjoys teaching karate, physical fitness, kayaking, raising his girls, dating his wife and yearly mission trips to Guatemala. He is a member of the Catawba Country Rotary, Catawba County Mentorship Program and serves on the Catawba Leadership board. David’s is passionate about using his gifts and talents to the best of his ability and hearing God say at the end of each day, “well done thy good and faithful servant.”

Dr. Scarlet Davis, Co-Chair

Dr. Scarlet Davis is a retired public school educator with degrees from Wake Forest and Appalachian State. She is a mother to one grown son, Justin; whom she says taught her by his actions how to have a heart of compassion for others.  Scarlet attends Woodlawn Baptist Church where she teaches Sunday School for senior women. She loves to study, teach, and share God’s word and to witness His redeeming work in her life and in the lives of others. “It is so exciting to see God’s love at work in the precious lives of the women who come to Safe Harbor. It is an honor to join Him in serving through this wonderful ministry!”.

Abbey Vaden, Secretary

Abbey is a graduate of Lucas Travel School of Charlotte and owns her own travel business.  Abbey also has a degree in nursing and general education. She is married and attends Pursuit Church. She enjoys, travel, volunteering and attending her grandchildren’s sporting events.

Frank Coletto-Treasurer

Frank is a graduate of Oakton Community College with a major in business.  Frank and his wife, Donna, are local business owner/operators. Frank enjoys, sports, fishing and football. He is passionate about feeding the homeless and mission trips.    Frank and Donna are members of Pursuit Church in Denver, NC.  

Irene Austin

Irene is a graduate from Lenoir-Rhyne University with a Bachelors degree in Economics/Business. Irene is married and enjoys a large blended family of 5 children and 9 grandchildren. Irene is the General Manager of a popular, local restaurant.  She is also an active member of Ebenezer Methodist Church in Granite Falls, NC.  Irene has always been interested in improving the lives of those who feel powerless. “It is a great honor to serve in an organization that empowers others to become whole with Gods help.”

Dan Castilleja

Dan is an Executive holding past positions in the Manufacturing, Construction, & Retail industries.  He attended UCLA and University of La Verne, with degree in Economics & Business.  Currently, Dan is Director of Operations for Design Foundry. Dan enjoys golf and all racket sports; his specialty is competitive Badminton as a former nationally ranked player with 12 Sr. Olympic Gold medals. He is also a Board Member for (FCA) Fellowship of Christian Athletes. Dan and his wife, Lorie, are members of Discovery Church. Lorie is a Stephens Minister & Health & Wellness volunteer at Safe Harbor. 

Justin Davis

Justin is a Catawba County native, graduate from the Cameron School of Business at UNCW, and an insurance broker at The Gardner Group.  He loves to serve the community and share God’s love through kindness and understanding.  Justin attributes his compassion for others from his sweet Nana.  “Statistics say my Mom and I should have been one of the lives touched through Safe Harbor, but through the grace of God we have been incredibly blessed.”  In his spare time, he enjoys spending time with his family, playing golf, and cooking! 

Mike Richey

Mike is married with 5 children and 10 grandchildren! He has 30+ years of leadership experience. He is currently employed in marketing and sales.  Mike attends Fairbrook Baptist Church where he is a Sunday School teacher. In his spare time he enjoys baking, golfing and classic cars. 

Dru Schneeberger

Dru is a graduate of Eli-Broad College of Business, Michigan state university.   He works as a Financial Associate. Dru is currently enrolled in Southern Evengelical seminary and hopes to have a Masters in Apologetics by 2020. Dru is married and has 2 children and a dog named Izzo.   Dru and his family attend Concord Church in Granite Falls, NC.  In his spare time he enjoys family time, ministry and music.

Lauren Vaughan

Lauren has a Masters of Social Work and Juris Doctor. Since college, she has felt called to work with children and families at risk.  Lauren has worked as a social worker in the child welfare system before going to law school. Currently she  works as Senior Attorney for Catawba County Department of Social Services, where her work continues to focus on children and families in the child welfare system.She teaches Sunday School at Harvest Bible Chapel and is active as a group leader in Bible Study Fellowship.Lauren has previously served as board member for Safe Harbor and  is very excited to again be a part of the work that the Lord is doing through Safe Harbor. She enjoys all kinds of crafts, and Clemson football!

Board Member Election Process

The potential board member will fill out an application. This application will be reviewed and discussed by the current board of directors. At this point, the board will decide if the applicant qualifies as a board member. Once a decision is made, a board position may be offered to the prospective applicant.
